I NEED A SAIL

©Wally Linebarger 2007

I need a sail

To carry me away

Back to the oceans in your soul

I need a light

To guide my weary way

Back to the center of your heart

Though waves may roar

And clouds may cover up the moon

But my heart

Could never love you more

So the storms could never cease too soon

And in the morning tides will bring me back to you

I need a sail

So winds will set me free

Back to the place I always want to be

I need a light

To shine upon your smile

Back to your loving arms again

Though waves may roar

And clouds would cover up the moon

My heart could never love you more

And the storm could never cease too soon

So in the morning tides will bring me back to you

Back to the center of your heart

  1. Hi Wally,Thanks for the poem for our class. I have many fond memories of you from TCA. I remember playing bass with you in chapel and laughing in the art room even though I never actually took an art class. I want you to know that I have been praying for you. I wish you the best.Juan

    1. You know something, Juan… I just found this post today! October 26, 2010!! I am such a goof! Loved your book. I have it on my table by my bed. I think it’s extremely good in every aspect of the word! I pray for you, too!
